An anomaly in the space-time continuum brings the Doctor to Hollywood during the Roaring Twenties. In the process he rescues Emily Winter from certain death. The Doctor is then put on trial by the Shadow Proclamation for having saved her, thus breaking the rules set out by the Time Lords and interfering with a fixed point in time.
The Doctor and Martha's search for the perfect milkshake lands them in an intergalactic pantheon preparing for war; then the Doctor arrives at a museum dedicated to his nine previous incarnations.
