This book discusses major emerging environmental issues caused by rapid industrialization in Asia, while concurrently detailing the linkages between the natural and disturbed chemical composition of the earth's surface. It contains five parts: (1) The degradation of soil and water resources, (2) Historical perspectives on monitoring and assessment of toxic chemicals, (3) Fates and pathways of different toxic chemicals, (4) Food contamination incidents, and (5) Techniques currently available in treating toxic chemicals and remediating contaminated sites.
