Amanda Starr, hungry for the now long gone lights of the theatre and restless, agrees to tell the story of her life in the theatre to the young author, Chad Seton. To say the very least her life has been uninhibited and exciting. It is summer time and members of Mandy's family join her one by one at her country mansion. The time needed for divulging the ins and outs of her hectic career produce ripples in their lives. Her adored granddaughter grows up and finds her path in life. Lovers have come and gone but among the visitors is a former actor who attempts to rescue Mandy from her life of committed selfishness to a newer path that could lead to happiness.
