Ceramic materials, mainly transition metal oxides and especially those called amphoteric (with double acid-base properties), have evolved the form and well-being of human beings in the world. This type of ceramic materials have been used in a range of natural and industrial processes, passing unnoticed to the daily use of the human being, in such a way that the good properties (physicochemical, structural, optical, electronic among others), that these metal oxides present, have been exploited in a positive way.Recently, zirconium oxide (ZrO2) has been used as a nanoreservoir of natural, synthetic and health sector active substances (pharmaceuticals), to protect the active substance from drastic variables and conditions that occur in the environment.
