W. F. Edwards is a prolific freelance writer who feels equally at home in various genres. His work includes Science Fiction, Horror, Fantasy, and Rough-and-tumble Action Adventure, all marked by vivid imagery, fast paced story advancement, and hard-hitting action.
As a twenty-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, he has traveled extensively in the United States as well as Europe and the Orient. His duties took him to Shanghai, Tokyo, Manila, Saigon, Bangkok, East Berlin, Spain, and numerous other hotspots of the cold war. Some of his best yarns are laid in China and other Far Eastern countries, some fictionalized versions of his own adventures. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1948 to 1968. Although too young for World War II, he served in the Korean and Vietnamese conflicts.
Since his retirement to Fredericksburg, Texas in 1968 he has been a frequent contributor of special interest articles for the local weekly as well as a front-page columnist for a daily newspaper in a neighboring city.
Several years ago he gave up his column to devote full time to writing adventure novels. He volunteers a good amount of time to civic projects as well as tutoring and encouraging young aspiring writers at the local high school and funds an annual scholarship in creative writing.
