"Some of these poems were written after the diagnosis, and while I waited at home for surgery and attended hospital for pre-assessment procedures. Others were written after my surgery and during my initial recovery at home. They ride the waves of negativity and positivity. I wanted them to be accessible, not too poetic, as I wanted them to hopefully go beyond poetry readers and, again hopefully, connect with those on the same journey--indeed, those experiencing the bad and good weathers of their emotions because of the disease, but possibly unable to articulate them into communicating words"--
