Abul Pitre is professor and chair of the Department of Africana Studies at San Francisco State University. He teaches courses such as The Life and Thought of Elijah Muhammad, Hip Hop Workshop, Black Religion, Critical Black Pedagogy, and a wide range of subjects -- including education,?leadership, critical pedagogy, and Nation of Islam Studies.? Pitre has authored, edited, and co-edited 29 books, including several with Rowman & Littlefield.? He is best known for The Educational Philosophy of Elijah Muhammad and A Critical Black Pedagogy Reader: The Brothers Speak. He was on a panel with Dr. Cornel West where he discussed his most recent book, Liberation Pedagogy: Elijah Muhammad and the Art of Soul Crafting. Terence Hicks is the former dean of the Clemmer College of Education at East Tennessee State University. Dr. Hicks is an accomplished author/editor, an award-winning university dean and social scientist in the field of education who has published 10 books on the college student population and over 100 combined research publications and/or presentations. Frank D. Cook (Sacramento, CA) is President of NextPoint Training, Inc., a Pro Tools Author, an Avid Master Instructor, and an Adjunct Professor at Sacramento City College and American River College in Sacramento, California. Cook writes Pro Tools books for the Avid Learning Series. He also teaches all levels of Pro Tools certification to students in the Sacramento region and to educators worldwide who aspire to become Avid Certified Instructors. Peter Sheppard is a former middle school mathematics teacher who is passionate about developing potential in students and teachers.
