Dr. Werner Becker is a neurologist and Professor Emeritus at the University of Calgary whose lifelong curiosity about the human brain has helped countless people find relief from pain. He earned his MD from the University of Manitoba and completed his neurology training at McGill University. A compassionate clinician and internationally respected headache specialist, Dr. Becker founded Calgary's innovative Headache Assessment and Management Program (CHAMP). He has published more than one hundred scientific papers and has served on international boards devoted to headache research and clinical care. Now retired from clinical practice, he remains Professor Emeritus in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Calgary. Recipient of numerous professional awards, Dr. Becker is also an avid wilderness traveller and the author of Rafting the Great Northern Rivers and Rafting the Snake.
