Germán Aczel hails from Buenos Aires, Argentina. He spent his school days drawing. By the age of 16, he was already publishing in local media. After winning his first awards, he began working for Argentina’s leading daily newspaper La Nación, and shortly thereafter for the country’s most important sports magazine, El Gráfico. At the age of 20, he held his first major exhibition and also represented Argentina at international events. Aczel is the author of World Cup 1930–2026, first published in 2010 in nine countries including England, Italy, and France and was sold out. In 2022, his new football book The Greatest Goals of All Time was released in Germany; it sold out quickly and generated strong media attention. His drawings are part of the FIFA Museum in Zurich, Switzerland, where one of his original works is also on display. The museum invited him to be their Artist in Residence during the 2018 World Cup. He supports UNICEF and the Homeless World Cup, and he promotes sports integration for refugees. Since 2022, he has been Club Atlético Boca Juniors’ Ambassador in Munich, Germany. The Argentine artist currently lives with his wife and four children in Munich, Germany.
